LATEST ! LATEST! LATEST !

THE COUNCIL AND REGULATORY SERVICES HAVE PULLED OUT OF  THURSDAYS MEETING !!Public Meeting 3.11.11 Old Colwyn Methodist Church 6 pm with Cllr. Holland & Leanne Martin (regulatory services) to answer questions on revised Dog Control Orders !!

Dog Demonstration Team !

Anyone interested in joining please attend the 1st meeting at Old Colwyn Methodist Church on 27th October 2011 at 8.15 pm.  There will be another meeting the following week and then meetings on the last Thursday of each month. As it is a Team display it would be necessary for handlers to attend each session ! It would not be practical to promote a team if several handlers were absent.

D.C.O. s  - 28 days to register your objection!

Please be aware that you have 28 days to voice your opinion regarding D.C.Os - the closing date is November 10th 2011. Please look on our page relating to these orders and you will find details of how to view the amended documents.

DOG CONTROL ORDERS The Scrutiny committee met on 25.8.11 to put forward Amended Dog Control Orders, you can view the minutes on www.conwy.gov.uk.  Once on the site click on Minutes of Meeting (Right Hand side of page), then click on Community Overview & Scrutiny Committee, then click 25.8.11. The amended orders will be published as previously in Public Notices of local papers and on the government web site, you will then have 28 days to appeal. You can however view the document in Additional notes on the  the scrutiny committee page.  If you are not in favour of the orders I urge you to join us in Pentre Mawr Park Abergele once the orders have been publicised. Please support the cause! It is your dogs right to run free that is at risk !

NEW ! NEW! NEW!  BODELWYDDAN COMMUNITY CENTRE - DOG TRAINING COMMENCING 7TH SEPTEMBER, 1ST WEEK WITHOUT DOGS FOR REGISTRATION AND INFORMATION.  DOGS AND HANDLERS START ON THE 14TH SEPTEMBER 6.15 pm

IMPORTANT !!!! LLANDULAS BEACH AREA - THERE IS A  MAN WHO IS DEMANDING £75 FROM OWNERS WHO DO NOT HAVE DOGS ON LEADS ! THIS MAN IS NOT A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE COUNCIL. PLEASE TAKE CARE ! THIS MAN CAN BE QUITE INTIMIDATING IN MANNER !

PENSARN BEACH - A DOG OWNER HAS BEEN INSTRUCTED TO PLACE THEIR DOG ON LEAD - THIS MAN WAS IN A BLACK CAR ! THIS COULD WELL BE AN OFFICIAL OF THE COUNCIL. IF YOU ARE APPROACHED AND REQUESTED TO PLACE YOUR DOG ON LEAD OR PART OF THE NEW DOG CONTROL PROPOSALS THEN PLEASE ASK FOR I.D AND ASK  WHICH BY LAW OR ORDER THE COUNCIL ARE  REFERRING TO. YOUR SAFETY IS OUR MAIN CONCERN - IF YOU FEEL AT RISK WALK AWAY AND GO TO YOUR CAR OR INTO A GROUP OF PEOPLE AROUND YOU.  SHOULD THE PERSON HAVE NO I.D. CONTACT THE POLICE.

The council have met to decide if there are any significant changes to the initial dog control order proposal - the outcome, I am led to believe is that there are ! This is turn wil be shown to the public by public notices in local papers and on line, we then have 28 days to make representations regarding the amended proposal.

Thank you to all of you who attended the march on Wednesday at the civic centre. I met with Mr N. Jones on Tuesday, the update is that there is no date as yet for the implementation of the Dog Control Orders at this time. Should significant changes be made the details will be published in the Public Notice section of your local papers. You will have 28days to then make any further representations. Should ther be NO significant changes the details will be in Public notices informing you that you have 7 days before the notices and orders are implemented.

GYffin Park Conwy - The grassed areas WILL be available to dog walkers. Apparently the map was not as clear as it could have been.

CONWY COUNTY COUNCIL - UNFAIR PLAY !

The council are now permanently marking pitches that were not previously marked ! They are doing this after the consultation period is over - they could just mark a pitch for sport anywhere and you would be restricted from the area whilst walking your dog.

The cricket outfield in Abergele is having the boundary marked by the council next week, for the past years this has been marked by a rope - placed out on the day of play. I can vouch for this as my husband placed the rope there at each game.  The parks department have said they are carrrying out regular marking of pitches. THIS IS NOT TRUE OF THIS CRICKET AREA.

Poo bins are being removed in Abergele ! New signs erected ! Start looking in your areas now for these events.

Congratulations !!!!

Well done to Lesley & Buttons, Shannon & Maisi, Jeanette & Titus, Jeanette & Cornelius and Linda & Tara on passing the Bronze level of the G.C.D.S.

Well done to Linda & Tara, Rob & Foxy, Jackie & Apollo, Dina & Jasper, Jeanette & Titus and Hilary with Chi on passing the silver level of the G.C.D.S.

DOG CONTROL ORDERS IN CONWY WILL NOT BE IMPLEMENTED BY APRIL 1ST AS REPRESENTATIONS ARE BEING VIEWED. YOU WILL, HOWEVER, BE NOTIFIED OF THE NEW DATE IN PUBLIC NOTICES AND THEN THE PROPOSAL WILL BE IMPLEMENTED WITH 7 DAYS OF THE NOTICE BEING AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC.

March for your dogs rights! Throughout the country ! Please get in touch if you are interested in getting involved!

View Videos of both marches opposing Dog Control orders on You Tube dog control order marches or on www.bowwowproductions.co.uk

MARCH 20TH MARCH - thanks to all of you who took the trouble to march with us. It was wonderful to see such a turn out. If you would like to view the video of the event I feel sure it will be on www.bowwowproductions.co.uk within a few days

CONWY COUNTY B.C. CHIEF EXECUTIVE says no to an extension.

Would anyone who has come into contact with an officer enforcing any of these rules prior to April 1st contact me please. Personally, I was finding it  hard to believe that Regulatory services would take representations into account, however, I still wanted to believe the council would follow the procedure and honour their commitment to the public.  Now that I know the some proposals are already being implemented,  I hold  no hope in a democratic process. To quote Regulatory services they are there "TO PROTECT & ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF THE LIFE OF PEOPLE LIVING, WORKING & VISITING CONWY". Is taht supposed to mean US?, the Visitors to Wales ?

So returning  to the real world ! We ask everyone to join our march - we are protesting about effect that this proposal will have on tourism and also to inform the council  how we feel about the method of implementing the DCO s

On Friday 4th March Darren Millars office informed me that the Chief Executive of C.C.B.C.  had extended the consultation period to 1st April, this was excellent news, or so I thought, until today.  After informing the good people at the march the news and stating it to the Daily Post, I am now told this is not the case. The date remains March 10th 2011.  Just when things appear to be at their worst,  more bad news arrives, police are already implementing DOG on LEADS today ! SO I ASK YOU ALL, why do the council even ask for representations when it would appear they  the voters views don't appear to matter.  I am asking everyone to get your objections in A.S.A.P and I am looking for a way to create funds to start a Judicial Review regarding these orders.  Can I wait until tomorrow for another episode?

AT this present moment in time the date for last representations is 10th March !!!!!!!. PLEASE GET YOUR OBJECTIONS IN MY MARCH 10TH.

A BIG thank you to all of you, the RESPONSIBLE DOG owners who turned out for the march on the 5th March. Your attendance was MUCH appreciated! Visit www.bowwowproductions.co.uk for video of Saturdays march.

Please continue your hard work by telling all your friends and dog owners about sending a letter or contacting your MP, remember we have until 1st April to complete our representations.

If any of you would like to meet again to discuss the DCOs then we could do so on the promenade at Colwyn Bay/Rhos or Abergele/Pensarn, just let me know by e mail or phone

We have been given an extension to make your representation. The new date is the 1st April, so pass the word and tell everyone to send their letters in. Today I had a meeting with David Jones MP, he believes some of the proposals to be severe and has contacted Regulatory services.

Make March 5th the day we make a difference - Your help needed - BE THERE ! A walk is to take place from the Toad pub on Colwyn Bay promenade at 3 pm. Dogs should be on lead and under control of the owner.

DOG CONTROL ACTION -

  • WRITE INDIVIDUAL LETTERS WITH YOUR REPRESENTATIONS - GET ALL YOUR FRIENDS TO DO THE SAME - TO MRS. L.MARTIN

  • IF YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO VISITS AS A TOURIST GET THEM TO WRITE AS WELL

  • CONTACT YOUR LOCAL COUNCILLOR / M.P. AND INFORM THEM OF YOUR VIEW. MANY COUNCILLORS DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THESE ORDERS.

  • E MAIL A LETTER TO ME AND i WILL DELIVER IT FOR YOU - PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE A CONTACT NAME & POSTCODE AT LEAST.

  • Saturdays meeting with Mrs Martin from the council gave some aswers to the public reagrding the orders. We would like to thank her for attending the meeting and also those members of the public who also attended. I have requested a 14 day extension to the 10th March deadline - I will keep you informed of the response

Update on D.C.O.s - Some of you have mentioned the new signs in park areas relating to By Laws - these By laws are not related to DOG matters so if you ring up to enquire as to what By laws are in place you would not receive any information relating to dogs. Please note when you view the maps of exclusion and dogs on leads areas not to make the assumption if there is no map relating to your area that you will be unaffected by the orders, this is not the case.

On Thursday made a representation for a Pilot Scheme for Responsible Owners - as a whole the meeting went well - I would say that the Town Council were unaware of the new D.C.O.s so contact your local councilor or M/P/ . Next Wednesday we have an appointment with David Jones and we are asking Darren Millar to ask questions regarding the D.C.O.s.

You can e mail me your represention to hand over to the council on Wednesday.

Dear Mrs Martin

RE PROPOSED DOG CONTROL ORDERS

Having read the above orders I/We would like to concur with orders pertaining to Dog Fouling and Dog Exclusion areas (state individually orders you agree with).  However,I/We are oppposed to orders (state which orders you are opposed to here. State which section they relate to 1. Dog Exclusion Zones, Dog On Lead areas or Dogs on Lead by Direction) on the grounds of ( state your reason here).

I/We also oppose them on the grounds that we as Respobsible Dog Owners regularly clean up after our dogs and object to being penalised in this manner because of the irresponsible owners throughout Conwy.

Yours Sincerely

IN 2005 THE CLEAN NEIGHBOUR ACT INCORPORATED DOG RELATED ITEMS - IT MAY BE SOME OF THESE ISSUES WHICH ARE GOING TO BE ENFORCED. YOU CAN VISIT www.thekennelclub.org.uk/kcdog as they are releasing information regarding simalar matters in other areas. I would like to say that the meeting are take  a PRO ACTIVE approach and find solutions - we all know how much "dog mess" is out there the meeting is how to try to reduce the amount and other positive issues. So Pass the word. ACT NOW

Classes have restarted and it is great to see you all again. For anyone interested in Fly ball please e mail us as we are starting early this year ! The venue will be outside and we are hoping for a Sunday. We will be starting with beginners and then go on from there.

Conwy & Denbighshire C.C. In the next months plans are going ahead to place more restrictions on areas in which you can walk your dog off lead. If passed they will be implemented in April 2011. In January there will be public meetings in Penrhyn Bay & Old Colwyn - so if you let your dog off lead in parks named by the council you may not be able to in the future.  Please e mail if you want further information - dates will be posted here with times and places of meeting. YOU have to act, we will be better with large support.
MEETINGS ARE TAKING PLACE ON 27TH JAN AT 2.45 - OLD COLWYN METHODIST CHURCH AND 29TH JAN AT 2  - ST DAVIDS CHURCH PENRHYN BAY - ALL DOG OWNERS WELCOME!
Please e mail me if you would like a petition form to start collecting signatures
PENTRE MAWR PARK CLEARANCE - On December 31st several volunteers helped removed "Dog Mess" which have been uncollected by many dog owners. I am very sorry to say that after our initial collection of 95 bags in the previous collection we cleared 250 bags on New Years Eve.  This subject is the biggest arguement "non dog owners" have about us using park lands and I'm afraid that By Laws will be introduced to exclude us if we cannot promote a more responsible attitude to those who are letting us down. I would like to thank the responsible owners out there for all their efforts and wish you a Happy New Year !

COFFEE MORNING/SATURDAY SALE - Thanks to everyone who helped at the coffee morning we raised £200 for RIDING FOR THE DISABLED (St Asaph)
PERFECT K9 OWNERS CLUB
-
Promoting responsible dog owners. This is a new area of our site. At present we are looking for members & assessors for this side of the club so if you are interested please contact me by e mail or phone.
As responsible dog owners  one of our responsibility is  cleaning up after our dogs - unfortunately some owners do not.  2 weeks ago we cleared the play area behind Ty Gwynne Jones school in Old Colwyn - we removed 48 bags of dog mess - several of which were in the goal mouth where the children play sports. In Pentre Mawr park Abergele 95 bags were removed.

PENTRE MAWR PARK PETITION. - Having recently spoken to several members of the Friends of the Park Committee about the use of the park for Dogs & Owners I received a response  that this matter had been discussed and  some options offered were restricted access/ dogs on leads only/ exclususion.  Upon receiving this information I have now started a petition against such proposals.  Two days after receiving this information I have now been told that this would not happen and there are no such proposals in the pipeline. Obviously both these statements conflict each other. We are proposing a Canine Friends of the Park group, the only concern being canine related matters. Should you wish to sign this petition please contact me ! It is the Majority being penalised whilst the minority of dog owners do not clear up after their dogs.  Please help promote responsible dog ownership ! In Pentre Mawr park there will be a "Frame & Shame" - for those who do not clean up after their dogs

HALF TERM - PENTRE MAWR PARK ABERGELE -
Today we cleared over 95 bags of dog mess from this park, the majority were around the area of the new footpath. We will be collecting again in the future and  hope to see a reduction in the mess left behind. Thank you to all the owners who clear up after their dogs.
